BELLINGHAM
In 1693 the first 1000 vines were planted on virgin soil by Gerrit Janz van Vuuren and his French Huguenot wife. The farm was named “Belle en Champ” which means, in French, Beautiful Fields.
Years passed and in 1943 an avant-garde young power couple from Johannesburg bought the property. Bernard and Fredagh Podlashuk were socialites with eclectic tastes and a bold vision. Undeterred by the challenges that faced them, their relentless hard work, extraordinary determination and courage culminated in a lasting legacy for both Bellingham and the South African wine industry.

Old Vine Chenin Blanc
![]() |
The wine is shaped by its mainly cool climate Cape Town origin and exudes bright citrus and tropical notes with hints of ripe lime. The typical peach and apricot stone fruit on the nose comes from the Bottelary hills vineyards in Stellenbosch, and brings forth a richness to the wine. The palate is fresh, elegant and bright with distinctive, natural fruitiness and gentle spice. Overall a fruit forward and seamless wine with power and balance being the defining characteristics. Grapes from vines up to 50 years old.

Hand-Picked Viognier

The inviting perfume of this Viognier is a fitting prelude for the myriad of flavours to follow on the palate. Pear, peach and melon are interspersed with savoury umami notes and a hint of oak spice intrigue. Although it is vibrant and satisfying to enjoy in its youth, this complex wine has the potential to develop honeyed richness and more tertiary flavours for up to 5 years in the bottle.

The nose opens up to bright red cherry, plum and violets, that follows through onto the palate. The wine is bold and concentrated in structure, while retaining its cool climate freshness and elegance. It is well balanced with a lingering berry fruit that finishes with a silky chalky texture that coats the mouth and gives length and persistency.
